The answer your vet visit never gave you.
It started with Zoey, a dog who has been itchy and uncomfortable since she was a puppy. Twenty months and about $4,000 later, we’ve treated the symptoms over and over, and we still don’t know the root cause. We started Beans Bio because dog owners deserve a real answer, and dogs deserve relief.
The vision
No more guessing games.
When your dog won’t stop itching and you suspect food, there is no reliable test to tell you. Hair, saliva, and blood kits are sold online, but they are not validated and not reliable. What your vet will recommend instead is an elimination diet: months of feeding one carefully chosen protein source, and nothing else, while you wait to see if the itching and licking stops.
So you buy the special food. When it doesn’t work, you buy the next one, until the pantry is stacked with bags you’re not sure about. Every treat counts. Every dropped crumb counts. One slip, or one contaminated bag of kibble, and the months you put in are gone. You start over.
Meanwhile your dog is still scratching, still chewing their paws, still waking up at night. Your vet wants to help but knows a food trial depends on perfect owner compliance.
Many owners end up turning to Apoquel or Cytopoint just to give their dog relief. These medications quiet the itch, but they don’t reveal the root cause, and the cost adds up month after month.
We’re building a test that gives you and your vet a real answer, so you can stop guessing and start taking action for your beloved dog.
For veterinary professionals
Help us build the test the clinic actually needs.
You’ve seen it firsthand: there’s still no reliable way to diagnose a food allergy. We’re developing this test with veterinary professionals, not just for them. Join our early access and research partner list to help validate the science, pilot the test before launch, and make sure it’s built the way clinicians need it to work.
For investors
Invest in a better answer.
Food allergies are one of the most common reasons dogs end up back at the vet, and there’s still no reliable test for them. We’re building that test. If you’d like to hear more about our science, our roadmap, or opportunities to invest, get in touch and we’ll follow up personally.
